Luciano Siragusa

21 Jan 1832 - 10 Jun 1899

Luciano

Like several generations before him, my 2nd great grandfather, Luciano Siragusa, was born, lived and died within the boundries of Collesano, Sicily. Part of the Siragusa family that settled there over 130 years before his birth, Luciano lived a simple life as a campagnolo (peasant farmer) as he and his wife, Rosaria Pizzillo, raised their relatively small family of Buonaventura, Marianna, Stefano, and Giuseppe.

Luciano's father-in-law, Maestro Stefano Pizzillo, was a master stazzonaro, working in all manner of ceramics. It is likely this connection that eventually led Luciano, and his sons, to a new profession of figuli, potters.
